ABOUT AMANDA O’CONNELL

Practical training for people, practitioners and workplaces

I’m a freelance trainer and facilitator with frontline experience in employability, Individual Placement and Support (IPS), supported employment and wider workplace practice. I deliver practical, interactive training that connects ideas with the situations people encounter at work. Alongside employability and supported employment, my training interests include reasonable adjustments, workplace inclusion, workplace wellbeing, communication and people skills.

Experience and training

My background includes frontline employment support and experience working with people and services around the realities of getting into work and staying in work. I have delivered interactive training for IPS teams, including sessions in Coventry and Sheffield. These were training experiences, not endorsements by previous employers.

My qualifications include a PDA in Supported Employment Practice, achieved in 2025, and the Certified Disability Management Professional (CDMP) qualification, completed in 2024.

How I approach training

Interactive and practical sessions, shaped around the audience, context and learning objectives. Rather than simply presenting information, I aim to create space for questions, discussion, activities and application to real situations.

Practical training. Real experience. Learning that sticks.
